The Future Internet Public-Private Partnership (FI-PPP) advanced a shared vision for harmonised European-scale technology platforms and their implementation, as well as the integration and harmonisation of the relevant policy, legal, political and regulatory frameworks.

Part of the Digital Agenda for Europe, the FI-PPP has contributed to smarter infrastructures and business processes (i.e. more intelligent, more efficient, more sustainable) through tighter integration with Internet networking and computing capabilities.

Project Outcomes

The XIFI project supported advanced experiments on the FI-PPP core platform in order to leverage existing public investments in advanced infrastructures. In particular, XIFI established a marketplace for test infrastructures and Future Internet services to cope with large trial deployments involving users. This was achieved through a core federation of test infrastructures, and by coordinating efforts with ongoing FI infrastructures and pilots (FIRE, EIT ICT Labs, CIP pilots, Living Labs) assisted by investments in pan-European infrastructures such as GEANT.
