University Hospital Southampton and the IT innovation Centre using machine-learning to help streamline fertility treatment

11 Jun 2020

A collaboration between the University Hospitals Southampton Foundation Trust and the IT Innovation Centre (The University of Southampton) is applying machine-learning and data science methods to both provide increased personalisation of fertility treatment and streamline the management of patients undergoing fertility treatment. The work will allow both clinicians and patients to make more informed decisions about the treatment plan and ultimately help reduce the emotional and clinical burden of treatment.

The work is particularly relevant in the era of social distancing, where we are being encouraged to reduce face-to-face interactions. This project has provided analysis and suggested ways in which clinical appointments can be minimized while still maintaining the same high-level of care; reducing the covid-19 transmission risk to both the patient and the clinical staff.
